Plaza Cinemas in Workington, Cumbria is a busy independent six screen multiplex cinema. It is operated by Graves (Cumberland) Limited.The cinema had been wanting to upgrade its existing system to accommodate internet sales for some time so when - in December 2007 - Savoy Systems contacted them, GCL decided to start afresh with Oscar.
By the end of February 2008, Savoy Systems had completed the installation of Oscar bringing to the venue not only internet sales but also Chip and PIN support.
All of the hardware for the 7 existing sales points was re-used and two of the retail-only sales points were enhanced to allow both retail and ticket sales. Three Oscar Pickup Points were installed in the foyer for the self-service collection of telephone and internet bookings.
